Accutane is a vitamin A derrivative (oral isotretinoin) which is not an over the counter medication. I hope that you obtained it with a proper prescription from your board certified dermatologist.

Thought it is effective as an anti-acne medication, Accutane has serious side-effects. Among them is teratogenicity — meaning it can cause birth defects even long after discontinuing the drug (around 2-3 years). It is however considered a “wonder drug” for nodulo-cystic acne. It usually takes a few months of treatment before any significant change.

Make sure that your dosing is correct and that you are aware of its potential adverse effects.

Make sure to consult a board certified dermatologist.

There’s more to dermatology than cosmetics.

It took about 2 weeks for me to see a difference but my skin got worse before it got better. If this happens, I’m assuming it’s normal. The redness also disappeared with the acne on accutane.
Good luck
