Zit and Pimple Treatment – What Causes Acne
WHAT CAUES ACNE. Zit and Pimple Basics
To understand how to treat your Zits and Pimples one has to understand what causes your skin to break out. Zit and Pimple treatment is quite easy if you have the facts.
Zit and pimple causes
Zits and pimples as they are commonly referred to are merely blocked oil gland.
Your skin is covered with oil glands especially on you chest, face and back. These glands are constantly lubricating your skin with oil (sebum). The oil flows through your hair follicles to the surface of your skin. In acne sufferers these glands are easily clogged, be it with dead skin cells, dirt or make-up.
These blocked glands then become inflamed due to the presence of bacteria feeding on the sebum. Your body then send white blood cell to fight this inflammation, as these white blood cells die off they form puss, which builds up causing swelling in the area, this is what causes the resulting blemish or pimple. At this point the pimple can develop into a cyst or cysts that go deep into the skin and can be quite painful.
Zit and Pimple Treatment
- Commit to a strict routine – You should at least have a morning and evening routine where you wash your face with a suitable cleanser this is the best way to clear up your zits and pimples (please be sure to avoid oil and alcohol based cleansers as they leave your skin dry and tight) also note that over washing may lead to your skin producing even more oil.
- Avoid touching your face or affected area – Our hands are constantly “dirty”. Avoid touching your face unless absolutely necessary. By doing this you are preventing bacteria and dirt from clogging your pores, and for those people that have long hair you should also try to keep your hair from having direct contact with your face.
- Don’t let sweat linger – For people that have an active or sporty lifestyles you should always wipe away your excess sweat during exercise and after you are done you should wash your skin with a mild cleanser to get rid of dirt and dried sweat.
- Don’t squeeze, scratch or pinch – While it might look like the right thing to do squeezing, scratching and pinching only irritates the problem area and often leads to scarring. In addition to that, the bacteria from a zit can also stay on your hands and under your finger nails spreading the infection to other areas of your face and body.
Things you should consider during zit and pimple treatment – You should consider exfoliating once or twice a week to remove dead or dying skin cell that will end up clogging your pores, if you have to pop a zit wait until the blockage is clearly visible and emerging to the surface. If you don’t wait you run the risk of pushing the infection further down and spreading it, remember prevention is better than cure.
As can see “Zit and Pimple” treatment can be easy if you know the basics.
